The token touched $0.004126 minutes before the network stopped producing blocks, while MANTRA later said an attacker exploited a vulnerability in software used by the chain.
- MANTRA’s token plunged as much as 18.5% to a record low before partially recovering, while trading volume surged nearly 600% amid news of a software exploit.
- The MANTRA blockchain halted block production and froze all transactions, endpoints, deposits and withdrawals after an attacker exploited a vulnerability in an upstream software dependency.
- Developers are preparing a patched release and coordinating with validators to restart the network, but have not yet disclosed the full scope of the incident or whether any assets were lost, adding to pressure on a project already hit by past token collapses and an ongoing acquisition.
MANTRA initially said it had frozen all transactions and network endpoints as a precaution while investigating an incident. Deposits and withdrawals were also paused on affected exchanges.
A later update said an attacker had exploited a vulnerability in an “upstream dependency,” meaning software used by MANTRA Chain but developed outside the network itself.
