Developers want to voluntarily shut down the network, saying state actors and AI agents have made security too difficult, then redirect ONE emissions into an AI video business.
- Harmony’s developers have proposed shutting down the blockchain and moving ONE balances to Ethereum, citing the growing cost and difficulty of defending the network from state actors and AI agents.
- Under the nonbinding plan, Harmony would take a final snapshot and automatically issue matching ERC-20 tokens, while validators could receive compensation for closing nodes and supporting a new AI video venture.
- The proposal follows major security failures, including a $100 million bridge theft in 2022 and an August exploit that prompted a controversial rollback erasing more than 109,000 transactions.
