- A federal jury found Las Vegas businessman Brent Kovar guilty of operating a cryptocurrency Ponzi scheme that defrauded at least 400 investors of $24 million.
- Prosecutors said Kovar falsely promised annual returns of 20% to 30% through Profit Connect while using investor funds for Ponzi-style payments, employee gifts and a house for himself.
- Kovar was convicted of 15 counts, including wire fraud, mail fraud and money laundering, and faces up to 280 years in prison when he is sentenced Nov. 30.
